Gardens and Frank Lloyd Wright in Pennsylvania, USA

On Sunday 18 August enjoy a Friends Weekend Open House at 2pm to 3.30 pm, in the Elliot Centre – MEMBERS ONLY

In September 2017 Gwen and Rodger Elliot travelled to Pennsylvania for an event at ‘Kentuck Knob’ a Frank Lloyd Wright house at Chalk Hill that is sometimes referred to as his best small residential design. They also visited Wright’s iconic ‘Fallingwater’ perhaps the most famous building in USA, which has a wonderful natural garden.

While in Pennsylvania they visited a number of gardens and reserves including a number of highly regarded properties in eastern Pennsylvania that is often described as the are most famous for gardening in USA. They explored the  superb Longwood Gardens and grand Winterthur both of which were created by members of the DuPont family with unlimited budgets, as well as Chanticleer with its impressive inspiration for design and implementation. Swarthmore College is a Liberal Arts University that has the wonderful Scott Arboretum as the university grounds.  In Pittsburgh the Phipps Conservatory were displaying an amazing exhibition of glass blown plants in their conservatories!

Come along a to enjoy a presentation on an aspect of America we do not often see and hear about in Australia.
