Our Annual Lunch on 4 May follows soon after Easter and Anzac Day, so get in quickly to book so you don’t miss out on this annual treat. The lunch will be held in the Tarnuk Room at Cranbourne overlooking the newly renovated Red Sand Garden, where the Cranbourne Friends have recently assisted in planting thousands of plants.
A raffle and silent auction will add to the excitement and raise funds.
Dean Stewart, our Guest Speaker, is guaranteed to be a thoughtful and entertaining speaker. Among other things, he will talk about the work that is underway to reintroduce ancient staples like Murnong or yams (Microseris sp) into the culinary mainstream. These plants were once a major source of food for indigenous Australians, the Murnong being eight times as nutritious as the standard potato and quite a superfood. Plants like this, cultivated by Aboriginal peoples, are starting to find their way back into mainstream Australian diets.
The lunch, to be held at 11.30 am on Saturday, May 4th 2019, in the Tarnuk Room, RBGV Cranbourne Gardens, costs $70 per head.
