In October, the Cranbourne Friends Botanical Illustrators group are presenting a botanical art exhibition at Karwarra, Australian Native Botanic Garden, Kalorama, focusing on the Fabulous Faboideae (Fabulous Peas).
The free exhibition will be on show in the gallery at Karwarrra from 8th to 16th October, 2022 and is mounted in support of an Australian Plant Society FJC Rogers Seminar to be held at Ringwood in October.
In a separate development, members of the group recently visited the RBGV Herbarium to find out about the existing Cranbourne Collection and how an artwork might added to that collection. The Cranbourne Collection is a collection of accurate botanical artworks of plants growing at the Australian Garden, Cranbourne.
While at the Herbarium the group viewed historic books illustrations from Von Mueller’s time and before, as well as existing artworks in the Cranbourne Collection.
The group has also presented two well-attended workshops this year – Nature journaling (April) and Graphite drawing (August), both taught by artist Linda Weil. A third workshop entitled Grevilleas in colour pencil led by well known artist Geoff Sargeant will commence on 31 October. The workshops are open to non-members as well as Friends so if you are interested please check the details and cost of the program.
