Wet weather threatened to disrupt the Growing Friends plant sale on the weekend of 22-23 October, and at opening time on the Saturday morning a heavy dump of rain in the area of the sale created very wet conditions.
Luckily the rain eventually stopped, the water was cleared with the help of Gardens’ staff and a secure walking surface was found for buyers. From about 11am the Plant Sale could operate as normal; we were lucky to receive very little further rain on the that weekend.
Buyers flock to these sales to purchase their favourite Australian native plants; for this particular sale we also had on offer the RBGV’s Raising Rarity plants. Under the Raising Rarity approach, rare and threatened species can be protected by being grown in home gardens.
Raising Rarity plants can currently be purchased at the RBGV shop at Cranbourne Gardens.
The next Growing Friends plant sale will be held on the weekend of 25 and 26 March, 2023.
