Banksia Festival 2025 at RBGV Cranbourne 16th-24th August
The beautiful Banksias are an iconic Australian plant. Part of the Proteaceae family, there are 173 species and all but one are native to Australia and nowhere else. Ecologically they are important as they are heavy producers of nectar, and therefore an important food source for small mammals, birds and insects, particularly in autumn and winter. They are grown widely as garden plants and a few species are a staple of the cut flower industry across the globe. Banksias have inspired an enormous amount of creative endeavour across Australia in gardens, workshops and studios.
Join the RBGV and the Cranbourne Friends for an exciting series of lectures, workshops, art and craft exhibition, book and plant sales, guided walks, and more, from Saturday 16th August to Sunday 24th August 2025, to celebrate Australian culture inspired by the plant genus Banksia.
