Kangaroo Paw Masterclass with Angus Stewart
Angus Stewart is a multi-award winning professional horticulturist, author, broadcaster, plant breeder and Cranbourne Friends patron. He has been breeding and growing kangaroo paws for his entire adult life and is going to impart much of his knowledge of Anigozanthos and its various relatives in this workshop to be held on Saturday November 7, 2026 at the RBGV Cranbourne.
It will be held over two sessions:
The first will commence at 11 am in the Auditorium, and it will be a presentation on the wild species of kangaroo paw and the many hybrid cultivars that have been bred from them. All aspects of identification, garden, landscape and cut flower usage will be covered.
The second session will start after lunch at 1 pm at the Kiosk shelter and it will be a hands-on practical session covering propagation by seed, division and tissue culture as well as selection of best cultivars for each purpose and general maintenance of kangaroo paws through the year.
This workshop will be capped at 30 participants. Afternoon tea will be provided (BYO lunch).
There will be some Kangaroo Paws propagated by the Growing Friends for sale at a special price for class participants.
